Description

Studio Licence – Scales Set for Cello (Initial–Grade 5, ABRSM compatible)

This annual studio licence provides teachers with a practical and economical way to use the complete set of downloadable scale and arpeggio charts with multiple pupils.

The charts bring together all the exam scale requirements in a single, easy-to-navigate reference, reducing the need for repeated explanation and allowing valuable lesson time to be spent on developing secure technique and musical control.

Developed by specialist cello teacher, Rachael Perry, the charts reflect the practical demands of cello technique, clearly indicating extensions and provide visual guidance for maintaining the characteristic triangular left-hand frame. This helps establish accurate spacing, comfortable hand position and secure intonation, supporting the development of reliable technique from the earliest stages.

Each chart shows:

• Key and scale/arpeggio pattern
• Number of octaves required
• Slurring and rhythm patterns
• Clear, colour-coded finger charts
• Clearly marked extensions and visual guidance for correct left hand shape
• Space to track progress (ticks, stickers or note

The spacious, uncluttered layout helps students recognise patterns and understand how scales lie on the instrument without needing to search for information on the page. Colour-coded finger guides provide an immediate visual reference, supporting accurate placement and confident learning. Progress boxes allow students to monitor development over time, marking scales as they become secure during lessons or practice.

Designed to support teachers as well as students, the charts offer a clear framework for organising scale work across the early grades while remaining flexible enough to accommodate individual fingerings or teaching approaches.

Please note: these charts support preparation for ABRSM exams but are not official ABRSM publications.

Excellent value: purchasing the full set individually for just two pupils would exceed the price of even the Solo Teacher studio licence, while the licence allows teachers to use the materials with multiple students throughout the year. From the second year onwards, renewals are priced 10% lower.
