A sultry, richly harmonised piece whose shifting key changes evoke the colours and changing light of a Pacific paradise. It opens with sustained semibreve chords before a unison melody emerges in the Violin 1, Viola 1 and Cello 1 parts. As the music moves into A major, the texture gradually fills out, with the remaining parts joining to build warmth and depth. Dotted rhythms introduce gentle rhythmic challenge in some lines, while the piano accompaniment provides a secure harmonic foundation to support confident intonation.
